2017 Sunday Slippers Barossa Chardonnay

A true expression of Chardonnay grown at Lyndoch in the Barossa Valley in all it’s fruitful glory. We aim to rekindle the love of Chardonnay. Only 1,027 dozen produced.

Tasting Note

Is the thinking-person’s idea of chardonnay something that sits between flinty Chablis and supple White Burgundy?

This example demonstrates a lissome combination of white stone fruits and citrus, with witty, sotto voce references to tropical fruits such as rockmelon lurking in the background.

Tight acidity and whispery French oak stretch out the back palate.

The length and the more linear structure (and the refreshingly lowish 12% alcohol) make this an ideal white wine with luncheon chicken: fricassee, cold, roasted, poached, drunken. Name any other white wine that can speak all of those languages.
