Greek Lamb Lasagna

Posted July 03, 2025

Comfort food with a Mediterranean twist, made to match a bold Malbec.

This Greek Lamb Lasagna is a rich, flavourful take on a classic — with spiced lamb, sweet fennel, and a creamy topping of Greek yoghurt and feta. It’s hearty, comforting, and full of Mediterranean warmth.

Paired with the Santa Vincenta Mendoza Malbec by Sister’s Run, it’s a match made in flavour heaven. The wine’s ripe dark fruit, soft tannins, and hint of spice perfectly balance the richness of the lamb and the tangy yoghurt, elevating every bite.

Greek Lamb Lasagna Recipe

Serves 4ppl
Prep = 10mins Cook = 40mins

Ingredients
500g lamb mince
1 bulb fennel
1 red onion
4 cloves garlic
2 carrots
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp dried oregano
500g passata
100ml red wine
1 tbsp tomato paste
250g Greek yoghurt
125g feta
Lasagna sheets

Method
1.    In a food processor blend the fennel, garlic, onion and carrots
2.    Cook the veg on medium-high heat for 3-4mins until softened – season as necessary

3.    Add lamb mince, cumin & oregano and cook for a further 3mins
4.    Add wine and cook for 1 minute before adding tomato paste and passata. Cook for 3mins
5.    In a deep pan suitable for lasagna layer the lasagna by placing lamb mince, lasagna sheets, followed by a 2nd layer of lamb mince, yoghurt, lasagna sheets and repeating the 2nd layer until you have none left. I had 4 layers to my dish.
6.    Top with crumbled feta and a little extra sprinkling of oregano and place in the oven @ 180c for approx. 30mins

Essential Tools
•    Chef knives
•    Chopping board
•    Weighing/measuring utensils
•    Large frying pan/deep frying pan
•    Lasagna tray
•    Wooden spoon
•    Food processor

Tips/Tricks
•    I like the addition of yoghurt as the “white sauce” in this Greek version but feel free to substitute the more traditional bechamel sauce if you prefer
•    Different type of lasagna sheets may take more or less time to cook – if unsure feel free to stick a knife in the lasagna to test for readiness and just bang the heat up to brown the cheese on top
•    The lamb mince mix also works great as a lamb Bolognese dish too – sneaky way of getting veg into the kids!
