2011 Bethlehem Block Cabernet wins Top 100 Blue Gold Medal at the Sydney International Wine Competition 2013. Here are the Judges' Comments:
Blackcurrant aromas with red and black fruits, sour plum and iodine notes and a black tea fine grained tannic finish.
Tight closed black fruit and spiced oak on the nose. Plenty of tight spicy fruit and firm oak on the palate. Still young. Some cherry fruit to finish. Good length and firm fine tannins. With food a rich intensity develops.
A green herbal nose but ripe Cabernet Sauvignon fruit characters. Fine grained tannins. Good length. Very balanced. A good match. The leafiness of the Cabernet works well with the lamb and the fruit sweetness comes through.
Riper berry fruit. Classical Cabernet nose. Good balance and weight. The tannins in balance. An excellent match with the dish. The sweetness perhaps dominating.
A dense purple inky colour with black to the rim. A lovely cassis and cola aroma. Very vibrant. With the food the wine comes over as simplistic and juvenile.
A deep ruby colour. Very good ripe black fruit aromas. aromas. A fine depth. Tight on the palate. A little bit of blackcurrant flavours. Brooding. Young. A bit diffused in the aftertaste.
